Murighiol- its name comes from Turkish : Lake Murighiol translates as "violet lake" . As far as the locals say , this name would come from the color that the lake has, at times . Experts say the salty waters , cloruro - sulphate type are characterized by a great diversity of zooplakton and phytoplankton .
Beside that, Murighiol is a traditional fishing village, home to the ruined Roman city of Halmyris-one of the most important ancient sites in Romania.
A network of small channels, ponds, smaller marshes and ever-changing floating islets made of reeds (called "plaur" ), a paradise for the large flocks of birds.
